Sindh scholars shine: Four win HEC excellence awards

HEC Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed with the recipients of best research and teaching awards during a ceremony at Islamabad.

KARACHI: Four researchers and teachers from Sindh were among the 10 recipients of the Higher Education Commission Pakistan's (HEC) excellence awards. They received cash prizes for their outstanding performances in various categories at a ceremony in Islamabad.

In the Social Sciences category, Dr Nadia Agha from Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, won the best publication award. Dr Jawad Sarwar from Lahore University of Management Sciences was named Best Researcher, while Dr Mahnaz Mansoor from Hamdard University secured the Best Young Researcher prize.

In Physical Sciences, Dr Muhammad Ikram from Government College University Lahore won the best publication award. Dr Haq Nawaz Bhatti from University of Agriculture Faisalabad was named Best Researcher, and Dr Kashif Ishaque from Muhammad Ali Jinnah University bagged the Best Young Researcher prize.

Dr Shah Fahad from University of Haripur won the Best Young Researcher award in Life Sciences.

Three university teachers received the 2023 Best University Teacher Awards: Ruqia Bibi (Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Peshawar), Dr Muhammad Ali Chughtai (Gandhara University, Peshawar), and Dr Saleema Ahsan (Iqra University, Karachi).

HEC Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, the chief guest, recognised the outstanding contributions of Pakistan's academic community, encouraging excellence in research and teaching.
